Abby's new favorite...

So when we had the chance at National Book Store, she ran around with the book in her hands. And I said, I'm not gonna buy it, just read right here, it's free. I know she likes it and she even memorized the song pero the price did not match the cash on hand. And even if I had ready cash, I won't buy it. It's priced at 400 + (not sure, not interested)I think, for just less than 20 pages (not sure again coz not interested) I said be contented with the dvd na.... (you know na!)

Random stuff I bought

I frequented bookstores last week and bought some books. SM National Book Store got improvements. They are now building their mezzanine floor, the reason why some books are in disarray when you enter their store. There's also a newly opened bookstore in in NCCC Maa, "Booksale" selling second-hand books and magazines, and more magazines than Filbars, also in NCCC Maa.

Here's what I picked.

    1. The Secret Book by Rhonda Byrne: I've watched the DVD only twice and plan to watch it everyday. Can't get enough of it so I bought the book which cost P 745.This is what I'm currently reading. If you want to have a positive dose daily or want to be reminded that everything is possible,  get hold of this book.

2. Throwing the Elephant: Zen and the Art of Managing Up by Stanley Bing: Haven't started reading this but this is a book that provides a thorough grounding in the Zen attitude you will need in order to move forward and control the people you work for. Because sometimes you've got to be selfless, compassionate, and completely empty to get the job done. Controlling? sounds natural to me.

3. My Little Picture Dictionary: This is the book that I read to Abby every single night since I bought it before I read "The Secret". It's been a while since she got tired of her brainy baby books series, which pages are now torn apart. I need to fix those so I can still pass it on to her cousin Anya and my brod's upcoming December baby. The book has essential words from A-Z and I guess it helps Abby to learn new vocabularies.

4. Get Rich at Home: Do I need to say more? Everybody's general wish.....when an 8-5 job gets unexciting.

5. Yummy: To minimize asking family members what they want to eat during weekdays and weekends. This mag has lots of simple dishes and even less ingredients. The pictures are inviting that you really have to try their dishes. I recently followed their mayo dip with yoghurt for salads.. yummy...

   6. Real Simple: I like mags that have organizing ideas.I like even more their website, they've got tons of tips and ideas from energy saving, home inventory to traveling and others.I've bookmarked their site and downloaded the forms.

8 Secrets Of The Truly Rich

I picked up this book from NBS before Father’s day. Initially, I’d picked up three books which would cost me around P556 but dropped the other two and bought the, “8 Secrets of the Truly Rich”, a bestseller by Bo Sanchez. I would love to buy all his books but I can’t for the moment.
The front cover says, “This is God’s Recruitment manual: He is raising a New Breed of Millionaires who is simple, loving and generous…join now! The 8 Secrets of the Truly Rich is not about materialism. It doesn’t teach you to be greedy. Bo shares 8 secrets to his journey to become truly rich.

Lesson#1. Be totally responsible for your success.
Most of us blame other people, our families, the government, the devil and God for our financial miseries but what happens when we never stop blaming is we lose our chance to become what we really want in life. I must confess that sometimes I let myself hear meaningless babble and make myself miserable. It’s so self-defeating and it’s really true, blaming doesn’t work! Bo says,” “You created the life that you are living right now.” So if you don’t like your job, you’re responsible. If you’re buried in debt right now, you’re accountable If you don’t want your situation, change it.

Lesson#2. Enlarge your psychological wallet.
Our money problems are mind problems. If you always say to yourself, “I don’t have money” or imagine yourself that you can’t make a million, you will get what you want subconsciously. Bo shares this Truly Rich principle: See yourself earning double of what you’re earning now. See yourself not spending it all but saving it, learning how to invest it and seeing your money grow.

Lesson#3. Get rid of crazy religious beliefs.
Many people think that people who want to become rich are spiritually immature and in need of deliverance from the evil spirits but it’s all a matter of purpose. Bo writes, “ Money isn’t the most important thing in the world. But money affects every important thing in the world.
It affects your family life
It affects your physical life
It affects your intellectual life
It affects your spiritual life
It affects your ability to help others.
We need money. And money, if used properly, can bless the world.
Lesson#4. Be completely committed to your dreams.
Bo says there are two big reasons why we fail to get what we want. First, because we don’t really know what we want and second, we don’t want it bad enough. Believe in the power of written dreams because you open yourself to life’s river of abundance. Then you read what you wrote down daily, you multiply the power of that river tenfold. Bo quoted Jim Rohn.
Let others lead small lives, but not you.
Let others argue over small things, but not you.
Let others cry over small hurts, but not you.
Let others leave their future in someone else’s hands, but not you.

Lesson#5. Raise your financial I.Q.
The common habit of a permanently poor person is after receiving his salary; he pays his bills right away. Wrong Move. Bo says, rich people (and potentially rich people) save first, then pay their bills second. Save 20 percent of your monthly income. Bo recommends to invest early as you can and know where to invest your savings. Banks are good place to put your emergency and business funds but not your retirement and long-term savings. To gain financial literacy: Read books and attend seminars on money; read the business section of the newspaper, volunteer in a small business, get your financial mentors and start you small business on the side.

Lesson#6. Ride something to wealth.
Bo says have many sources of income so that if one fails, the others can sustain you. Discover your core gift and earn from it. Learn to sell. If you want to be rich, develop an entrepreneur mindset – even if you’re an employee.

Lesson#7. Have a bias for action.

Most millionaires and billionaires in America are high school and college drop-outs. Bo says,” If you want to succeed in life – education isn’t enough. You need the “Power of Hustle”. To hustle means to believe that there’s a solution to almost any problem – and to take it upon yourself to find it!

Lesson#8. Win in all areas
Delight yourself in the Lord and He shall give you the desires of your heart. (Psalms 37:4) Bo writes, What’s the use of having millions when your family is in shambles? What’s the use of being physically healthy when your spiritual life is empty?
We all need balance
We need to win in the seven major areas of life.
We need to…

  1. Strengthen our relationships
  2. Grow in emotional maturity
  3. Use our core gift
  4. Get physically healthy
  5. Gain wisdom
  6. Build our money
  7. Nourish our spiritual life.
It is possible to win all areas of life.
