Saturday Pizza

I learned yesterday that family day out is cancelled today. And hubby was lucky; I was able to accept it wholeheartedly without being cross to him. We are supposed to go to the bookstore to buy Justin’s school needs and stuff and let Abby play in Wonderland or kid’s playroom.

Their agency put up a booth for the Jobs Fair 2008 at the University of Mindanao in Matina and somebody has to man that booth of course. Hubby was not assigned to man the booth but her officemate. Maybe hubby tried to beg off but I guess he’s too kind to decline. Anyway, her officemate sent me a pomelo so he can convince hubby to swap with her.

Since that job fair snagged our family’s day-out, Abby and I were stuck at home while the two guys are out. We woke up to a rain and suddenly I felt it’s ok to be lazy today. I know there’s too much to do but I wasn’t inspired to do some chores. Maybe later.

They brought home pizza from pizza hut when they arrived in the afternoon (maybe they felt guilty about leaving us at home). I know, I'm dieting but what the heck! I only ate one slice of this.

Remembering my Father

I thought I smelled candles today so I said a little prayer for Papa. Fifteen years ago, this was the day I said goodbye to a cherished person in my life, my Father. He died at the age of 47. I used to feel guilty and thought that I might have caused Papa to suffer but I knew things happen for a reason. Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 had helped our family cope with the loss and accept that loss was a part of life.

To Everything There is a Season (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8)
To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven
A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant,and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down,
and a time to build up; A time to weep, and a time to laugh;
A time to mourn, and a time to dance;
A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
A time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to get, and a time to lose;
A time to keep, and a time to cast away;
A time to rend, and a time to sew;
A time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
A time to love, and a time to hate;
A time of war, and a time of peace.

Family goes to GAP Farm

I was having fun with answering quizzes on blogthings last Friday. It’s interesting to search deeply into my own self and ask if these are really true. The results were sometimes similar or never far from truth.
Anyway, yesterday, we left the house and went to GAP farm at Diversion road, Maa. I was able to persuade hubby considering last week, I wasn’t such in a happy condition due to my bad fall. At least now, I am well and have learned the lesson.
We arrived at Gap Farm at 10am, sky was perfectly clear and sun was too hot. I wonder why I couldn't feel cold air even if we're on top of the mountain and surrounded by lot of trees.
This is what you'll see in the entrance of the farm via Diversion road;
A large statue of a carabao and farmer. We paid 20 pesos each for the entrance fee except for Abby.
We haven't been to this place since 1995 so I thought there are now many developments in the farm. But the only changes I detected were the abundance of trees. Looks like the place isn't regularly maintained.

We settled on this place to eat our lunch. (Abby, Justin & Dan)
We are surrounded by trees and empty tables
and below this is a CAVE.
By the time we were entering the cave,
a lot of people were flocking to the farm.

I just couldn't understand why there are so many weird statues here.
(May engkanto, kapre, tikbalang, aswang, manananggal, putol na kamay (ngek!)
Mga convention ng mga well-known ghosts sa Philippine folklore.

If you look down from this area, there's bold cemented carvings of the words,
"The Land of Promise" na naka-embed sa mountain. Why?
Hindi ho sila mga engkanto,
mahilig lang talaga silang mag-make face...

After the cave, we went around more and found, "The Bridge of Reconciliation" na habang papalapit kami ni hubby ay sabi niya, "Lumayo tayo diyan" hakhakhak! We found more statues of natives of the Philippines. They also have a swimming pool, mini zoo (estatwa din mga hayop dun) and a restaurant pero mineral water lang ang type kong bilihin.

I don't expect to see more of this farm kasi parang di na siya attractive puntahan. You bet, ganda pa mall, gastos nga lang. The most important thing that just happened was the family bonded and kids were happy so all is well.
