I got an unsolicited advice the other day about enrolling my daughter when she reaches school age in a prestigious and expensive school.
I was told that I should now save to invest for her education. We’ve had this little chat before and every time there’s a chance to talk about education, there would always be a recommendation for that school. I would then just nod but not necessarily agreeing to anything.
Like other parents, I believe that education is one that you should plan as part of your investment, actually a long-term investment. As parents, we desire to give our two kids the best in education but we don’t necessarily believe that expensive education is the best education. Hubby and I always evaluate if we are able to sustain the financial requirements of a prestigious school. Of course, we need to match our expenses to the financial requirements of the school especially now that our country’s economic condition is worsening. We don’t have other income sources and we cannot change our current expenses because it is fair enough, based on our needs.
If you live here in
Whether we decide to enroll our kids in an expensive or less expensive school nowadays, we still don’t know the value of our decision until the future. Until then, the important thing is to be happy with your decision and not failing to reinforce your kid’s learning at home.
